ANSWERING THE BELL

January 20, 2016: Have been busily engaged with my other blog, part of the Edmonton Seniors' Newspaper system! Seems to be going well.

September 22, 2015

Pat and Ted celebrate 25 years of marriage: they have two remarkable children, [my grand -children are all remarkable] David and Megan.  Life does not get much better.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

September 16, 2015: My FYD is having a birthday... she is 48 years old...man, where does the time go! Seems like yesterday when we brought her home.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

September 13, 2015: Seems to me one should add stuff at the top of the page rather than having people scroll down...of course it exposes them to all of one's mighty writings... so I have started at the top!

The world is not in very good shape... for those who believe, we believe it is still under the control of One who knows best. Even as we remember September 11. as we remember December 7...

I am trying to sort out my website...what a pain...sometimes it works sometimes it does not...mostly not.  If one was looking for a message it is probably give it up,,,, but that would admit being defeated by a machine....methinks not....

I hate election propaganda, lies? However, I think any of our leaders would Trump, you know who...what an embarrassment.!

Trying to see where my freelancing is going...it's dead still right now..have asked my editor to clear the air....

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

June 28, 2015: My first attempt at 'blogging' was going extremely well, but as we all know, 'pride comes before a fall' and a posting along, with the entire blog, disappeared to wherever blogs go! All attempts so far to recover said blog have met with dismal failure...!

But ego allows me to try again.... this time more care will be taken...ha! What will be posted? Remains to be seen...Family? Poetry? Garden? Bear with me! Read at your peril.

June 28, 2015: Let's start with the garden...gives so much pleasure and I am delighted to say Stephanie and Rachael are taking the gardening path...

It is possible David has been bitten too as he has constructed a huge bordered garden to grow all kinds of veggies to  complement  his renowned cooking skills.

Keith is the grunt man at the Goertzen home...

The picture is of the Tidridge garden looking to the east.

It is also noteworthy that Kayla T is also pursuing a gardening career at 'her' condo in the City's west end. Landon is an enthusiastic 'onlooker'

June 29, 2015:

A New Church
(July 2007 After visiting Bethel Lutheran, Sherwood Park)
[I am not looking for a new church, then or now, but visited Bethel because daughter Sarah, her husband Ken, and their children Emily, Koen were attendees.]

So, you're checking out the neighbourhood,
For a new church to attend!
Like the outside, like the inside.
Like the pews, like the music.
Like the order of service, like the prayers.
Like the ambiance.
Like the look of the pastor!

But, who are these strange people?
They look but don't talk, They smile but pass on.
They seem friendly ... but who knows

So your present church is not so hot,
Anymore ...

Looks grungy, rundown, and kind of forlorn.
But:

"Hello Al, Barry, Brady, Brians M and G, Gary, Bob , Cor, EI, George, Rene, Richard, Steve", and some that I've missed ... Methinks I will stay ...[Downsizing is a part of life... but it is not so easy! This is very real if downsizing means leaving the district one has lived in for many [many] years, possibly leaving 'your' church and friends... sometimes 'solidifying' at your present residence might be the answer]

!INDEPENDENCE DAY

The UK did not pay much attention to July 4: Back then it was still Great Britain and we were top dogs.

Moving to Canada and appreciating our neighbours to the south, Independence began to mean more and it was delightful to be here in 1967 when we gained ours! Our independence was achieved through negotiation rather than aggression.

Growing up during WW II in the UK I was aware of the USA's involvement. We had a visit from a cousin, one of Aunt Sis's sons who was in the army, and a soldier friend of another English cousin. We are sure this friend lost his life at Normandy.

Hollywood did not help to improve our, read my, impressions of Americans! It was not until I read some of [Sir] Winston Churchill's books that I realized without the unofficial help of the American President prior to December 1941 the outcome of the war in Europe would have been disastrously different.

So I say with a great deal of appreciation and respect....God Bless America.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ann, thank you for adding! I had given up hope... I shall add 'something shortly? My sister living in Gloucestershire tells me they have been 'enjoying' hot weather... she mentioned 35 C...that's warm!

We have had a couple of weeks of 29-32 C weather, we need rain and badly.

You will have heard of our forest fires...thousands upon thousands of hectares of trees destroyed.

Take care and thanks, again!

August 19, 2015: Has does one make such a stupid mistake...Two days ago  called to wish Ivan a Happy Birthday. Checked the time zone clock, he lives in Adelaide, thought it was 2.45 p.m....darn i phone anyhow!  Just had time to commiserate on the loss to England in cricket and to proffer Happy birthday wishes....

Preparing to fly to Kelowna  Friday for Kayla and Landon's wedding. Grace and speech prepared.

Having 'orrible problems with a section of my webpage... Tidridge Homes... Grrrrr!.

August 20, 2015  FACEBOOK...had planned to cull some items from my page...but before I could, I received a letter from a chap I had worked with in the 1980's. Wanted to be 'un-friended'. This hastened the process. I culled! I intend to keep an eye on posts and respond if they are unsuitable.

The unfortunate thing is that I had no idea he was or could receive the posts...I have much to learn about the process.
